Experience using Ubuntu 6.10

Since using Ubuntu Linux Operating System version 6.10 on March 2007, I feel more optimistic about the future of the Linux/Open Source operating system. Why? Because my past experience using Linux, it seems I have so many difficulties how to run, execute programs and applications, even how to mount cdrom in order to be read on Linux.

But with Ubuntu 6.10 give view about how to use Linux. For example when I try to install application for example Apache, I just need to give such command
$sudo apt-get install app_name
And then Ubuntu will try to search repositories wheter it is located at local disk, intranet, internet. And of course automatically add the library needed. Honestly, I usually use source application in tar.gz format, then I should compile it manually. The big problem was when I try to make or compile it, sometimes the application need a or some libraries before we can compile or even install.

So starting from now on, I think I will try to know more about this amazing OS. And hopefully I can share other experience especially open source operating system.
